Privacy Policy

How MacroForge handles device permissions, account data, cloud features, analytics, billing, and AI requests.

1. Introduction & Data Controller

This Privacy Policy explains what MacroForge processes on your device, what information is sent to MacroForge services, the legal bases for processing, and your privacy rights.

2. On-Device Processing

2.1 Accessibility, Overlay, and Automation Features

MacroForge uses Android accessibility, overlay, and foreground service capabilities so your macros can tap, swipe, navigate, and react to what is on screen.

  • Purpose: To execute user-created automation.
  • Data Handling: These capabilities are used strictly for core app functionality and on-device execution. They are not used for advertising or unrelated surveillance.

2.2 Screen Capture, Image Detection, and OCR

MacroForge requests Android screen capture permission (MediaProjection) for image matching, color detection, OCR, and screenshot-based automation triggers. Android may describe this as screen recording permission.

  • Purpose: To let macros inspect visible screen content and trigger automated actions.
  • Data Handling: Screen captures are processed in memory on the device for local macro execution. MacroForge does not record, stream, or upload video or screen captures as part of normal operation.

2.3 Clipboard Access

MacroForge includes clipboard functions in its scripting and automation tools.

  • Purpose: To support copy/paste automation when a macro or script explicitly invokes clipboard commands.
  • Data Handling: MacroForge does not continuously read, monitor, or upload clipboard history. Clipboard access occurs only when triggered by an active, user-initiated workflow.

2.4 Local Macros and Settings

Macros, action definitions, templates, and app settings are stored locally on your device.

  • Purpose: To let you create, edit, and run macros offline without requiring an account.
  • Data Handling: Local macro data stays on your device unless you explicitly choose a feature that uploads or shares it (such as cloud backup, community sharing, user reporting, or AI generation).

3. Account and Cloud Data

3.1 Account Information & Device Identifiers

If you create or sign in to a MacroForge account, MacroForge may process:

  • Data Collected: Email address, user ID, username, email verification status, entitlement or subscription status, device model (Build.MODEL), and a cryptographic device identifier hash (instanceFingerprintHash).
  • Purpose: User authentication, password recovery, enforcing per-plan device limits, preventing fraudulent trial recycling, and account security.

3.2 Cloud Backup, Sync, and Community Features

If you use cloud backup or community features, MacroForge stores account-linked cloud data.

  • Data Collected: Cloud-backed macros, macro metadata, sent and received shares, blocked-user records, creator profile details, and community macros you publish.
  • Purpose: Syncing macros across your devices, restoring backups, sharing macros with other users, and powering the Community Store.

3.3 Community Reporting and Moderation

If you submit a moderation report from the Share Center or Community Store, MacroForge stores moderation data.

  • Data Collected: Reported username/content ID, report reason/category, your user ID, your email address, app version, device model, timestamps, and moderator resolution notes.
  • Purpose: Reviewing abuse reports, investigating rule violations, and enforcing platform safety guidelines.

4. AI Features

MacroForge includes Premium AI tools for generating and editing automation actions and scripts.

  • Data Collected: The prompt you submit, relevant macro/action context, and associated script syntax.
  • Purpose: To return generated or modified automation steps and code.
  • Data Handling: AI requests are transmitted securely via HTTPS to MacroForge backend services for processing. Do not submit passwords, API keys, or sensitive personal data in AI prompts. MacroForge does not upload device screenshots with AI generation requests.

5. Analytics, Crash Reporting, Advertising, and Billing

5.1 Analytics and Crash Reporting

MacroForge uses third-party analytics and crash-reporting services.

  • Data Collected: App interaction events, crash stack traces, native diagnostics, device model, and OS version.
  • Purpose: Diagnosing app stability, identifying bugs, and understanding feature usage.
  • User Control: Diagnostic crash reporting can be toggled on or off in the app Settings.

5.2 Advertising

MacroForge shows ads to eligible free users. This includes clearly labeled native ads in the Community Store and optional rewarded ads that add community-macro runtime only after completion is verified by MacroForge servers.

  • Provider: Google AdMob and the Google User Messaging Platform (UMP).
  • Data Processed by Google: Depending on your device, region, and consent choices, Google may process the advertising identifier, IP address, device and app information, approximate location derived from IP, ad interactions, consent status, and diagnostics to deliver, measure, prevent fraud, and—where permitted—personalize ads.
  • Reward Verification: For a rewarded ad, MacroForge sends an account identifier and a one-time reward request identifier to AdMob. MacroForge receives a signed server callback containing the ad unit, reward, transaction ID, network identifier, and timestamp. This record is retained for up to 90 days to prevent duplicate or fraudulent rewards and enforce the daily account-and-device cap.
  • User Choice: Where required, a consent form is shown before ads can be requested. You can review or change available choices under Settings > Privacy & Diagnostics > Ad privacy choices. Rewarded ads are optional; declining one does not remove the free daily allowance.

5.3 Purchases and Entitlements

MacroForge offers paid subscriptions and Pro/Premium access through Google Play.

  • Data Collected: Purchase tokens, subscription status, product identifiers, and order validation records.
  • Purpose: Validating entitlement access, activating subscriptions, and restoring purchases.
  • Important: MacroForge never receives or stores your payment card details. All payment processing is handled by Google Play.

6. Third-Party Services & International Data Transfers

MacroForge utilizes trusted third-party cloud infrastructure and platform service providers to operate user authentication, cloud database storage, backend functions, crash diagnostics, analytics, and billing validation.

International Transfers: Data may be transferred to and processed on secure servers located outside the European Economic Area (EEA), including the United States. Where personal data is transferred internationally, appropriate safeguards are utilized, including EU Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) and recognized international data privacy frameworks.

7. Legal Bases for Processing (GDPR)

If you reside in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we process your personal data under the following legal bases pursuant to Article 6 of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):

  • Performance of a Contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR): Providing user accounts, cloud macro sync, Community Store access, AI features, and subscription entitlements.
  • Legitimate Interests (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR): Securing the service, preventing abuse and fraud (e.g., device fingerprinting for trial limits), improving app stability, and moderating community content.
  • Consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR): Processing optional diagnostic, telemetry, and personalized advertising data where you have granted consent.
  • Legal Obligation (Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR): Complying with applicable accounting, tax, and legal obligations.

8. Your Data Protection Rights (GDPR & CCPA/CPRA)

8.1 European Union / UK Rights (GDPR)

Under applicable data protection laws, you have the right to:

  • Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Rectification: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete personal data.
  • Erasure ("Right to be Forgotten"): Request deletion of your personal data using the in-app account deletion tool or by contacting support.
  • Restriction: Request restriction of processing of your personal data.
  • Data Portability: Request transfer of your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
  • Object: Object to processing based on legitimate interests.
  • Withdraw Consent: Withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent.
  • Complaint: Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, in particular the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens at https://autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl) or your local EU supervisory authority.

8.2 California and US State Privacy Rights (CCPA / CPRA)

  • No Sale: MacroForge does not sell personal information.
  • Advertising Choice: Depending on applicable law, personalized advertising through Google may be treated as sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising. Where required, you can opt out through the in-app Ad privacy choices control without losing the app's base free functionality.
  • Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights.

9. Data Retention and Deletion

Account-linked data is retained for as long as your account remains active or as needed to provide app features.

In-App Account Deletion

You can permanently delete your account and all associated cloud data at any time directly in the app (Settings > Account > Delete Account and Data) or at https://macroforge.net/delete-account.

When confirmed, the system permanently deletes:

  • Your sign-in account and profile
  • Device/session records and cryptographic fingerprint hashes
  • Cloud-backed macro records
  • Received and sent shared macro records
  • Blocked-user records
  • Community Store macros and creator listings published by your account

Residual copies: Encrypted backup snapshots may persist in backup rotations for up to 30 days before being automatically overwritten. Local device data can be removed at any time by clearing app data or uninstalling MacroForge.

Ad reward verification records may be retained for up to 90 days after creation for security, fraud prevention, and duplicate-reward auditing, after which they are automatically deleted.

10. Security

MacroForge uses HTTPS/TLS encryption for all network communications and adheres to industry-standard cloud security practices and platform security controls to protect personal data.

11. Children's Privacy

MacroForge is not intended for children under 13 years of age (or under 16 in certain jurisdictions), and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If we learn that personal data of a child has been collected, we will promptly delete it.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. If material changes are made, we will notify you through the app, website, or via email before changes take effect.
